Well, I got to go hang out at the Nova Scotia Music Awards last weekend and take in some music. We …Harmony Bazaar Festival of women and song ….were nominated for an award…Event of the Year……we didn’t win…… The Halifax Pop explosion won,but it was good publicity just to get nominated. These awards were given out at the sold out Sunday morning brunch which explains why there were very few winners on hand to receive their award, but it was quick and to the point so it was actually pretty nice.
Lots of great music throughout the week…not enough women there singing, but one of the very good ones was “Stone Mary”…check her out sometime, man can she play lead guitar and belt it out!
There was alot of music business stuff that I found stuffy..everyone always trying to impress somebody…..everyone trying to look important….all I wanted to do was get my comb out and comb alot of the young guys hair…that messy look sure is in….looks like they just got out of bed, mind ya there were a few old ones with messed up hair but they really did just get out of bed . Not very many of them went to bed before 4 in the morning……too much and too loud for this chick! When you walk into a room and your whole insides start vibrating from the loudness…time to leave……yes, I like loud music but the young ones today like it at the loudest setting that their amps have.
Anyway, the best part of the morning was when everyone’s friend…PAM SAMSON( from Liverpool,N.S)…….was up for Volunteer of the year award……and SHE WON!
Pam and her husband Allen have been having musical events at their house for a few years now….They almost all have played at her house…Matt Anderson,Steven Bowers,Irish Mythen and the list goes on.Not only does she have great music but the food she cooks is amazing, and tons of it! She(they) definitely deserve the award…..CHEERS PAM AND ALLEN!!
The opening song is Andrew Hunter singing his new hit …and the lady ending the video is Kim Wempe singing her new east coast song…Both were very enjoyable performances….. done
